Position Summary Information
| Responsibilities | The School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Delta State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Music who specializes in applied piano and music theory. This is a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position. A full teaching load is four courses per semester. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be in teaching undergraduate courses in Music. These courses will be applicable to general education and to program such as Arts Entrepreneurship and the Music concentration in Secondary Education. The faculty member will be expected to offer courses in group piano, music theory, and aural skills, in addition to providing piano lessons to undergraduate students. The faculty member will be expected to serve as a collaborative pianist for faculty recitals and other campus events that involve a pianist. The hire will collaborate closely with colleagues in the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the Delta Music Institute, and the band and choir programs. The faculty member will also be engaged in scholarship, provide service to the school, college, university, and profession, and exhibit collegiality as part of the tenure and promotion requirements. Delta State University is a SACSCOC-accredited public university with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The campus is located in Cleveland, Mississippi, in the center of one of America’s most culturally rich and ethnically diverse regions. Review of applications begins immediately. |

DMA/DM in piano performance or collaborative piano or PhD in an area of music (with excellent piano skills). ABD candidates will be considered but the doctoral degree must be in hand by time of appointment in August 2026. |
